By Bus or RV

The Montezuma Heritage Museum at 35 South Chestnut, would like to welcome commercial bus tours to the museum and downtown Cortez Colorado.  The entry fee for a commercial tour bus is $100 per bus.  For the tour buses, please call and get a prearranged time, a guide will then be available to help bring the great pioneer history of Montezuma County to life.  

 A suggested route to the museum with a tour bus or a large RV, would be to turn south onto Elm Street off Main Ave/Hwy 160.  Go south on Elm to 1st Street and turn left.  Once on 1st street there is free parking to the right or parking along the street.  With a short ½ block walk from 1st street the museum. 

DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS, IT IS ENCOURAGED NOT TO UNLOAD THE GROUP FROM THE BUS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE MUSEUM.  South Chestnut is a busy street with a potential bus unloading would block traffic traveling on Chestnut or attempting to turn into local businesses.

Once the visit to the museum is complete, the Market Street is a nice wide intersection with room to turn east towards Mesa Verde National Park or to the west towards Moab Utah

By Bicycle

The Montezuma Heritage Museum at 35 South Chestnut, would like to welcome visitors from many parts of the world to the museum and downtown Cortez Colorado.  The entry fee, when it is charged, is $5 a person over 12.  You can become a member of the Montezuma Heritage Museum and receive free entrance, 10% discount in the gift shop, and a monthly newsletter.   Once inside of the museum the great pioneer history of Montezuma County will come to life. 

The route to get to the museum from Mesa Verde National Park would be to travel west on Hwy 160 to Chestnut Street.  Be sure to be in the inside lane to turn left safely onto Chestnut.  Parking for cars can be found along the street, a parking lot to the side of the museum, or the free city parking nearby. 

Coming from Moab, it is safer to be in the outside lane to turn right onto Chestnut.

By Car
